متن کاملMalignant melanoma arising in an ovarian mature cystic teratoma - a rare entity.
Mature cystic teratomas, also known as dermoid cysts, are composed of a mixture of tissues derived from all three germ layers and constitute about 20% of all ovarian neoplasms. However, malignant transformation in a mature cystic teratoma is an uncommon event occurring only in about 1.8% cases. A variety of tumours can arise within a mature cystic teratoma (most common being squamous cell carci...
متن کاملSebaceous Carcinoma Arising in Mature Cystic Teratoma of Ovary
Roughly 1% of mature cystic teratomas undergo malignant transformation. In particular, cutaneous-type adnexal neoplasms may occur in mature cystic teratomas. Sebaceous carcinomas, which arise from mature cystic teratomas, have rarely been observed, with only seven cases previously reported. Here, we present a case of a 69-year-old female who had pelvic pain for two weeks and who subsequently un...
متن کاملEvidence of metachronous development of ovarian teratomas: a case report of bilateral mature cystic teratomas of the ovaries and systematic literature review

The aim of this study is to clarify if development of mature cystic teratomas of the ovaries in a single host is metachronous or due to autoimplant or recurrence. CASE PRESENTATION We report a woman with bilateral mature cysti...
متن کاملInvasive Recurrence of an Intestinal-Type Mucinous Epithelial Neoplasm of Low Malignant Potential: Case Report and Review of the Literature
Pseudomyxoma peritonei is only rarely seen in conjunction with primary ovarian tumors. It has been suggested that only ruptured mucinous tumors arising in ovarian mature cystic teratomas can result in this clinical picture. We describe a case of a late invasive recurrence of a mucinous intestinal-type borderline ovarian tumor arising from a mature teratoma after complete surgical debulking. Bor...
